I just love sewing fabric pumpkins this time of year! There are so many excellent patterns and designs, and the color possibilities are endless.
It’s possible that I may even have gone a little overboard in my “research” of the myriad of fabric pumpkin patterns that are out there. I’ve found diy pumpkin bowl fillers, pumpkin shaped placemats and pot holders, pumpkin pillows, pumpkin table runners, and more.
Here is just a smattering of some of my favorite fall pumpkin sewing patterns for you. Get out your stash of autumn fabric colors; many of these are stash-busters, too! I think they would make lovely gifts or give your home a nice decor refresh as well.
Pumpkin Coasters
A printable pattern for pumpkin-shaped fabric coasters so you can quickly and easily make your own cute and useful fall home decor. Minimal supplies needed. You can make so many of them. Easy and fun to make!
Quilted Pumpkin Pot Holder
Style your kitchen for fall by making these pieced pot holders. The pumpkin shape is pieced together with fabric scraps in harvest-themed colors, the quilting lines imitate the ribs of a pumpkin, and the whole piece is bound by orange bias tape binding.
Crazy Quilt Pumpkin Coasters
These are adorable and another fantastic way to make good use of scrap fabric. She does include a pattern and full video tutorial. It doesn’t look like there are written instructions but her videos are always great.

Pieced Pumpkin Pillow
Not up for a whole quilt but you’re still looking for a patchwork project for fall? Here is an adorable pillow with a homespun pieced pillow. I love the colors she chose.
Plush Pumpkins
Very detailed instructions to make plush fabric pumpkins from scrap fabric and bits of brown felt for the stem and base. This uses the simpler fabric tube and drawstring method I prefer when I want a quick craft.
Easy No-Sew TP Pumpkins
A fat quarter in a seasonal color, some silk leaves, and a twig or cinnamon stick are all you need to decorate spare rolls of t.p. in a pumpkin theme.
Simple Pumpkin Coasters
This fabric coaster imaginatively hints at a pumpkin theme. Your fabric colors make all the difference here. She uses hand-stitching with embroidery thread to make the curved lines, and a clever way to make the stem detail with a button and small leather strip.
Tea Towel Pumpkin Coasters
These pumpkins look so simple and have that farmhouse style because of the tea towel and faux leather she used to make them. You could easily sew them up in an afternoon without too many special materials.
Porch Pumpkin Gnomes
These playful pumpkin gnome porch decorations are made using hot glue, but even beginner sewists could easily sew the hats. (You’ll still need hot glue for other parts of the craft.)
