Hello, friends! I’m so happy to have you here. The idea behind A Pretty Nice Life is to give you a pleasant place to stop and stay a while – as well as being a helpful resource that makes your life just that much nicer!
On A Pretty Nice Life, you’ll find topics about daily life like Cooking and Meal Planning, Saving and Spending Wisely, Cleaning and Organization, as well as Inspiration and Encouragement, Crafts and Sewing! It’s kind of a mixed bag, like real life. A pretty nice life!
The goal isn’t to be perfect or set up unrealistic expectations no one (especially me) can live up to; it’s the opposite, in fact. Check out the article on “A dinner of herbs.”
So, the message is “You’re doing alright!” Let’s enjoy what we’ve got, while we’ve got it. When I originally started this blog, I wrote, “This isn’t a granite-countertops and gleaming stainless steel kind of place” because I didn’t have either of those. I used to joke my kitchen has one of every color appliance!
…And then I moved and our current rental has – you guessed it – granite and stainless. But it’s whatever. They’re beautiful, but oh so temporary and they aren’t what I value anyway.
“…for the things which are seen are temporal [temporary]; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:18b
Thank you for stopping by and don’t hesitate to reach out to me to just say hi or to ask a question. It’s a joy to have you here!

More About Me
If blogging had existed when I was a child, I would have known what I wanted to be when I grew up. The closest thing to that at the time was “writer,” so that’s what I told people when they asked me. (I may have also said horse owner, astronaut, president, actress, singer, and who knows what else.)
After an illustrious career in food service, house-cleaning, office administration, freelance writing (yes, finally!) and as a stay-at-home mom, I discovered the internet and blogging. I started my first blog in September 2009 and sold it to a new (really good) owner in 2022. That blog is still a wonderful resource for it’s large and enthusiastic following. It is a local website, and I moved to a new state and into a new season, so I wanted it to go to someone who could continue to do a great job with it.
Since starting that first site, I’ve been an instructor of WordPress and digital media at the college level, I’ve consulted, trained, and provided support for a large network of local bloggers, and I also managed the content strategy for a large national site, among other things.
I still consult and work with other site owners, and I have a couple other smaller websites because this is just what I really like to do!
