When we moved into our new home, there was so much to love about it. One thing I didn’t pay attention to, though, until we moved in was the fact that there were only two drawers in the whole kitchen, and one of them was tiny.
We figured out how to get most of our utensils into the larger drawer, but I still had things I needed to store in the kitchen, like plastic wraps and dish towels and pens, tape, and other miscellaneous stuff! We needed more drawers.

I finally found this kitchen island online at Home Depot (and it’s also at Amazon). These are my affiliate links, so if you use one to purchase the kitchen island, I may receive a small percentage as commission. That doesn’t make it more expensive for you. In fact, at the time of this writing, both of these options have it for a GREAT price!
It took me a long time and a lot of review-reading to decide to purchase it, but I’m so glad I did! I love this thing. It is really inexpensive compared to practically everything else I considered, including making something from scratch with thrifted cabinets and some kind of top.
When it arrived, it was heavy. I felt so sorry for the delivery person who hauled it up our front steps. (Thank you, delivery person!) It took me several hours to put it together but it was fairly straightforward and the results were well worth it.
I had also purchased these two stools, since the island has a drop leaf that gives you room to sit.

The shelves are adjustable and I’m JUST able to fit my Vita Mix, Instant Pot, food processor, and some baking pans in the cabinet side. The drawers hold all my plastic wraps and foil, my dish towels, and miscellaneous (aka the “junk drawer” stuff).
What the drawers don’t fit is my roll of parchment paper. That has to sit on the shelf with my baking pans because it’s a little too long to fit in the drawer. It hasn’t been a problem so far.

One small thing that did happen recently, a bit less than a year after purchase, is that the connectors that hold on the spice rack loosened, so the bar fell out. I haven’t gotten around to tightening the connectors because I think I’ll have to pull a drawer out to do it, so there’s a full disclosure. I don’t actually use the spice rack, so it isn’t an issue. I do use the paper towel holder on the other side and it is so convenient! My kitchen has very little counter space, so having a place OFF the counter for paper towels is excellent.

I’m still really happy with the kitchen island and it’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture. It won’t be a piece I hand down through the generations, probably, but for a couple hundred bucks I wasn’t expecting it to be! 😀 It just does exactly what I need it to do and it looks cute while doing it. It’s nice quality, super convenient, and versatile so that even when we move, I will probably be able to find a place to keep it. I hope I get to use it for many years; it’s just that nice.
If you need a kitchen island and you were looking for something easy, get this one. There are more expensive ones out there but I don’t know if you’ll like them any better. I paid $280 at Amazon. Today, it’s slightly cheaper with a $28 coupon.

Here are my affiliate links if you want to purchase one:
Amazon: Homestyles Dolly Madision Mobile Kitchen Island with dropleaf breakfast bar in soft white
Home Depot: Homestyles Dolly Madison White Kitchen Cart with natural wood top
I’ve purchased things online from both Home Depot and Amazon with good results (and free shipping), so I guess you can just pick whichever one is cheapest, or whichever you are more comfortable with.
